Wildfire and Fire Weather Information

CALFIRE   Statewide information on California fires. By following the link on the CAL FIRE home page one can obtain up-to-date and useful  information related to specific incidents in the state. Information includes approximate wildfire locations, road closures, general precautionary notices and evacuation orders. The agency also maintains a Twitter account where real time updates related to safety, evacuation orders, road closures and alternative driving routes and more. 

InciWeb   Provides information specific to individual wildfires across the US, including location, size, percent containment, evacuation and road closure announcements, maps of impacted areas, and contact information for more information. Fire details may be updated multiple times each day during significant events. 

National Interagency Fire Center   NIFC provides information on large fires throughout the US and gives phone numbers for obtaining more information about individual fires. Reports are updated approximately once per week. The NIFC also provides Significant Wildland Fire Potential Outlook maps at 7-day, monthly, and seasonal time scales. 

FireBuster   Provides forecast weather (temperature, precipitation, wind, etc.) that may promote fire.

 

 

Smoke and Air Quality Information

California Smoke Information   Provides information on air quality impacted by wildfire smoke, fire information, and the health effects of smoke and how to protect yourself. The page also provides links to California Air Quality Management Districts for more information on air quality.  

AirNow   An EPA-run website providing information on air quality around the US.

 

Preparation and Recovery Resources

USDA Disaster Center Provides information about specific disasters and emergencies, how to prepare, recover, and help build long-term resilience, as well as information about USDA assistance during disaster events.

Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) Improve the delivery of services to citizens affected by disasters. EDEN's mission is to reduce the impact of disasters through research-based education.

American Red Cross In response to wildfires, the American Red Cross website will provide information on open and available shelters for evacuees. 

DisasterAssistance.gov  Access to disaster help and resources. 

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)   State, local, and tribal government officials should also be aware of FEMA's Fire Management Assistance Grant Program, which provides rapid response for funding requests to mitigate, manage, or control wildfire. 

Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Center Offices   The Office of Disaster Assistance's mission is to provide low-interest disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters to repair or replace real estate, personal property, machinery & equipment, inventory and business assets that have been damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster.
