Cory Owens

As the Oregon Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Assistant State Conservationist - Partnerships, Cory engages partners at the local, state, and national level to leverage resources and achieve greater success together across the state. Her educational and professional background is in soil science with undergraduate studies in Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University and a master’s degree from the University of California-Davis in Soil Science through the US Peace Corps Master's International Program. Her degree work on indigenous soil knowledge examined the interconnection between soil resource knowledge and management decisions of subsistence communities in Senegal, West Africa. Cory utilizes her extensive experience supporting the implementation of NRCS programs and in-depth knowledge of soil ecosystem function to work on the interface between NRCS’s conservation mission and the mission and goals of all NRCS partners as they work together for the shared vision of conservation success on-the-ground. Cory has worked for Oregon NRCS for over 20 years and her favorite soil is Amity.
