The forests and woodlands of the Southern Great Plains hold great promise for carbon storage in the face of climate change challenges for the region. This workshop will explore science and management recommendations that leverage forestry resources for energy while promoting economic resilience through the creation of new and expanded markets.

This workshop will explore science and management recommendations for the use and demonstration of bio-based technologies and practices to enhance carbon storage in the forest and woodlands of the Southern Great Plains, within the context of climate change projections and impacts.

Although wood-based energy holds promise for both economic resilience and climate change mitigation, there are a number of outstanding research and applications questions, particularly at regional scales, that need to be addressed before its adoption becomes more widespread.
