The USDA Agricultural Research Service has a mission to deliver scientific solutions to national and global agricultural challenges. The ARS Office of National Programs has four primary research areas and about 2,000 scientists working on over 650 projects. The Office of International Research Engagement and Cooperation (OIREC) provides leadership and coordination of this research capacity to the agency's international relationships.
