The U.S. Forest Service, part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has a mission to help sustain forests and grasslands to meet the needs of present and future generations. The current challenges facing the U.S. forestry community benefit from a global approach. The Forest Service collaborates with international partners in developing new knowledge through our Research and Development Deputy Area and by connecting the agency’s wide range of expertise through our U.S. Forest Service International Programs. We all benefit by sharing innovative technologies and addressing cross boundary environmental issues and climate change. We also support domestic economic and conservation interests by combating issues exacerbated by changing climate, including illegal logging, loss of migratory species’ habitat, and shifting patterns of invasive species.
