Dr. Ana Hummes is an ORISE Postdoc Fellow at National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE) since 2023. She is responsible for research on the ryegrass-fragipan interface to study the mechanisms by which annual ryegrass to break down subsoil hardened fragipans and improve edaphic conditions for plant growth. Ana also studies humic products as bio-stimulants to increase both crop resistance and the amount of stable organic compounds that may contribute to carbon storage and immobilization in crops biomass and soil. Ana joined the Midwest Climate Hub in 2025 to bring expertise in plant and soil sciences related to agricultural practices.
