Description

Wildlife Service provides assistance in managing wildlife that prey on livestock, damage property, or carry diseases that may harm livestock or people. WS may be able to help: Protect livestock from predators like wolves, coyotes, mountain lions, and certain birds. Reduce damage to property, crops, and natural resources from feral swine, bears, beavers, and other wildlife. Offer technical guidance to help indigenous wildlife important to Native American communities thrive on Native lands. Manage rabies in wildlife. Develop tools and methods to resolve wildlife-related conflicts. Monitor and test for wildlife diseases that could be transmitted to livestock and people.

Climate Change Component

The Wildlife Services (WS) mission is to provide Federal leadership and expertise to resolve wildlife conflicts to allow people and wildlife to coexist. Since the work of WS is greatly influenced by distributions of wildlife, which are expected to shift as the climate changes, much of this work will be changing, as well.
