Healthy Trees for Climate

USDA Northeast Climate Hub's Climate Learning Forum, UVM Extension, and Meach Cove Farms invite you to a walk and talk on healthy trees for climate, carbon storage, and agroforestry.

This is an informal walk and talk to share knowledge on carbon and climate issues facing farmers, foresters, and other working landowners. Ali Kosiba, UVM Extension Asst. Prof of Forestry, will talk about ecosystem services that forests and trees provide, including climate mitigation through carbon sequestration and storage and the ways to manage forests to achieve these.

Juan Alvez, UVM Ext. Research Associate, will talk about agroforestry principles and potential practices and designs which work for and on farms. There will be time to compare notes and discuss some approaches, tradeoffs in managing for different objectives, as well as upcoming NRCS Climate-Smart funding opportunities.
