Graduate Student Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partners (GradCAMP)

An academic, year-long program for Masters and Doctoral students studying climate adaptation and/or mitigation on working lands or waters in the Northeast with a special interest in climate equity and justice.

Participating GradCAMP scholars will work with USDA Northeast Climate Hub leadership and coordinating staff at West Virginia State University to develop a digital library of information and a webinar series putting climate justice and equity issues at the center of their research. In addition, this unique program offers participating students networking opportunities with project leadership across institutions, stakeholders and other climate practitioners, and provides a means to spark exploration of climate justice and equity in a collaborative setting.

Through monthly virtual meetings, scholars will explore climate equity issues in relation to their research projects. Meetings in the 2023 fall semester will be guest-speaker based and feature climate equity practitioners and academics. The 2024 spring semester will allow for GradCAMP scholars to present their own research and findings, which will become the Climate Equity in Working Lands/Waters Webinar Series. The program will culminate with an in-person workshop in June 2024 (with final group meetings to wrap up in July/August 2024). Travel funding will be provided to all 2023 GradCAMP scholars.

NOTE: The Graduate Student Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Partners (GradCAMP) program is an evolution from the USDA Northeast Climate Hub's initial pilot program, Graduate Student Climate Adaptation Partners (GradCAP).
